The marine preserve ( Te Whanganui-A-Hei ) near Cathedral Cove is protected and as a result, the snapper population has returned with a vengeance. The guides will occasionally feed them so they’ve come to recognize the sound of the boat’s engine as something of a dinner bell. I loved the contrast of their rich red color with the aquamarine water.
