After the original one burned to the ground, apparently the city council was thrilled to build something more to their liking – the overall concept was to hang murals depicting the significant events of the city’s history. Unfortunately it took 9 years to complete decoration of the grand hall as a “committee of a considerable number of people” had to approve what designs illustrated the most important periods. Ever been part of decision making group like this?….I shudder at the memory of participation….and guess some things never change….
