Baboons like to hang along the side of the road hoping for a hand out. I asked my driver to stop so I could take a picture of this one – after I clicked a few he made a sudden jump on to the hood of our jeep – my driver ( who always acted “Mr. Cool” ) screamed in fright and immediately commanded all windows be rolled up as he started to drive forward so fast that the baboon jumped off. After we had escaped the baboon “terrorist” he told me that baboons are capable of smashing windows to get food out of a car – and have grabbed IPhones out of people’s hands thinking it was food. WHY he chose to tell me this after the fact is beyond me but one of a myriad of reasons why I wished the baboon had taken a swing at Mr. Cool ( my least favorite of the the three guides I had in Africa.)
