Benny was my third and final guide. And the adage – they save the best for last is true in this case. His nickname is “chuga boy” which reflects his tribe affiliation and their business acumen. Benny is also passionate about animals and as a result there wasn’t a question I could ask him that he didn’t know the answer to. I learned so much from him about animal behaviors – it was a joy to be with someone who was as in to the game drive as I was -his enthusiasm and energy was invigorating! Here he is tapping the gong rock which was discovered by the Maasai thousands of yeas ago. Beautiful sounds come from it when it’s “played” – Maasai carved steps into the larger rock (kopje) to make this a gathering place for spiritual celebrations and special rituals.
