port tasting in Douro Valley

This area is considered the birthplace of port at around the 17th century. The tour I was on took a break in Amarante to taste its iconic pastries before stopping in Sabrosa for our first tasting at a family owned estate. This was followed by a delicious lunch served on the patio of the estate.  After this we went on a rabelo boat cruise down the Pinhao river before guzzling some more port at Quinta da Roeda Croft.
