After Hatshepsut died, the stepson Thutmose III had nearly all evidence of her reign destroyed and since she was a very successful builder with notable temples at Karnak, this was no small feat. Some historians believe it might have been for revenge since she usurped his rule however others believe it was to reinforce male succession to the throne and pave the way for his son to rule without argument.
