Jim Thompson is a major part of the “fabric” of Bangkok history as the Silk King…( no pun intended ) Born into a wealthy family living on the East coast of the U.S., he trained as an architect before becoming an intelligence officer in the army during World War II. This is when he discovered Thailand and the ancient art of silk making and with some marketing acumen, turned this art into a global, multi million dollar enterprise. His home shows off his incredible art collection and skills as an architect with an appreciation of Thai culture. He disappeared mysteriously in Malaysia while on vacation and his home subsequently became a museum.
