Humayun, while an intelligent man, had a reputation for indecision and absentmindedness. Mild and benevolent, his was of charitable character and despite the treachery of his closest advisors, he forgave them again and again. He was overthrown in short order but fortunately his son, Akbar, became the greatest of all Mughal emperors and re-established the empire.
