The 76th custodian of the Mewar dynasty still lives here with his wife. While the monarchy was abolished in 1971,the royal families still live it up large as successful business people. For example, courtyards and rooms of the palace are rented out at 5-10K a night for special occasions and some of the more opulent palaces have been converted into pricey hotels.
