Merry makers – young and old alike – celebrate the King’s Birthday on April 27th with orange themed festivities. Everyone gets the day off except the restaurant and transportation workers so it’s a party on a grand scale. Due to COVID, this was the first year that the event went public again and the music, street parties, flea markets, bakeries, and bars were decked out in full force and reflective of people who had been cooped up for way to long. I went to Delft to participate in the celebration and believe me, St Patrick’s Day doesn’t even come close!
