I thought it would be fun to stay in an historic landmark so I booked this place which was really grand with exception of these stairs that led to refurbished bedrooms upstairs – it is impossible to capture how high up they went with a camera but trust me – mounting this sucker was no walk in the park. It’s no coincidence that there’s a portrait of a nun at the base of the climb praying for your safe return. I also forgot that this was a bread and breakfast and normally don’t like being nice to a bunch of strangers first thing in the morning – or actually being nice period. But this turned out to be a great start to the day – I stayed here for about a week and in the course of that time, met some lovely and interesting international travelers – a mother and daughter from Germany celebrating her recent graduation from middle school, a couple from Spain who gave me contact info for their dentist to clean my teeth, a couple from Australia who have been traveling the world with their two year old, a woman vet on her way to Holland after attending a business conference in Brussels and a retired couple who also have home registered with airbnb in Arizona who were scouting for a French castle to buy! Plus – the owner of the home is a professional opera singer so conversations were a lively cross referencing of experiences!
