I was planning to travel to Ghent on the day that fiercely pouring rain resulted in alternative plans to visit some of the museums in Bruges. The one pictured was originally the home of one of the wealthiest merchants in Bruges – very luxurious including a private chapel that allowed viewing into Church of Our Lady. Next stop was the Basilica of the Holy Blood purportedly home to a vial containing cloth stained with the blood of Jesus Christ. Beautiful, gothic interior. Then on to Stadhuis, Bruges town hall, which is right next door and contains stunning murals depicting the town’s history.
