One can not mention Bruges – or Belgium for that matter – without also paying reverence to its chocolate. It’s considered the best in the world due to the picky selection and meticulous grounding of the beans, strict codes regarding harvest and emphasis on coco ( like no diluting with milk like the Swiss do ) Shop windows are literally crammed with piles of it – I was told there are over 2,000 such places selling only chocolate – and in a country this small, that’s some pretty serious dedication!
