When we came upon a total of 9 cubs hanging out I whooped in delight at the miracle of it. But Benny told me that lionesses in a pride often have cubs around the same time as each other to establish an “intimidating gang” to help protect them from predators. When they are deemed old enough, they are left on their own for an afternoon to learn how to hunt. However he said if we traveled just a bit we’d find at least two “Mom’s” discreetly watching over them! Sure enough, when we began to travel on we spotted what Benny thought were sisters perched on a higher “shelf” of land standing watch in case the kids got into trouble!!! I love the animal kingdom!!!
