Greek mythology about soulmates

There are 4 creepy statues representing Greek mythology on Butcher’s Bridge which seemed an odd addition to the love locks. However I was told that according to the early Greeks, humans originally had 4 arms and 4 legs with a body driven by two hearts. Zeus, fearful of humans, split them down the middle leaving them in search of their other half or “soulmate” during their lifetime.  There’s also one of Adam and Eve posed to look like they’re running into the open market – fresh out of apples I suppose.
