The largest of the pyramids is 482 feet high and considered not only an achievement of ancient engineering but modern day as well. It was built as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu (Cheops) who was the first to insist that a woman (his wife) be buried inside with him. The guy from Mexico talked me into climbing inside the tunnel with him to see the actual tomb and I made it about a quarter of the way – it’s a narrow, dark, two way tunnel – picture me squished against its wall while letting someone pass on their way out. No thanks. He made it but told me passed two people having panic attacks while trying to make their way out….another crying….
